The Father David Valtierra Peace Studies Scholarship has been established through the leadership of Virginia (Ginger) Williams of Winthrop University and in conjunction with the friends and family of Father David Valtierra. This scholarship recognizes Father David Valtierra’s contributions to Winthrop University and the more than thirty years of support that Father David has provided to faculty, staff, students, and programs. By creating a scholarship in his honor in the College of Arts and Sciences at Winthrop University, we ensure that future generations will know of his significant contributions.
Father David has supported Winthrop’s Peace, Justice, and Conflict Resolution Studies minor in many ways since it was founded in 2006. He co-sponsored programs, taught courses, and served on the advisory committee. This scholarship, which honors him and his work, will be awarded annually to a student in the Peace Studies minor.
If you wish to contribute to this scholarship fund, please write a check to the Winthrop University Foundation and designate the “Father David Valtierra Peace Studies Scholarship” in the memo or note section on your check.
