New for April and May

We celebrated the feast day of our founder, St.Philip Neri, on May 26 with a special Liturgy and dinner.  Fr. Joe Pearce gave a talk on the St. Philip and mercy on May 11. We always learn something new and interesting about St. Philip during Fr. Joe’s presentations.  Our community retreat is scheduled for the first week of June at Living Waters in Maggie Valley.

Brother David Boone is now under Hospice care. He chooses to discontinue the treatment for his leukemia and lymphoma. He is weak but comfortable. The goal is for him to remain at home as long as he continues to be comfortable and safe. Please remember him in your prayers.

All the parishes we staff are celebrating the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist after celebrating Baptism at the Easter Vigil. St. Philip Neri held their annual Italian Festival where you will find the best meatball sandwiches south of Baltimore. The school year at St. Anne’s School is drawing to a close. Next year the high school students will be located on the campus of St. Philip Neri Parish. We wish all the students a happy and safe summer.

The Center of Spirituality presented some interesting programs during April and May: Women through the Centuries presented by Sisters Gay and Susan and 21st Century Spirituality presented by Sr. Donna. Alice Camille challenged us with Future Dreaming and Fr. Damien led the Icon Retreat. A few of the completed icons are included. June will be Visions in Faith and July is the month for the Bible Institute. See the brochure for details. The new brochure for 2017-18 is almost ready for the printer-thanks to Judy!!

Our prayer for you is an abundant showering of the gifts of the Spirit. Please continue to remember us in your prayers. Also, pray for vocations!!
