What happened to the time between Christmas and the middle of Lent? Hope it was a grace-filled time for you.
There have been a few changes in the Oratory Community. Michael Young has decided to continue his journey outside of the community. He left us in January and we wish him well. Father Louis Quang will be beginning his First Probation with us. Father Louis was with us for a time before Christmas and has asked to be a member of the community. Please remember Michael and Father Louis in your prayers.
The Friends of the Oratory sponsored the annual Valentine Dinner fundraiser for the Oratory. It was a wonderful event and over $25,000.00 was raised for the Endowment Fund. We appreciate the hard work of the committee to make this annual event a possibility.
We are continuing with major and minor upgrades and repairs to our campus. New windows were installed in the Ark Retreat House. Now we need to tackle some inside projects. In Walsh Hall, the library-reading room has a new look. Rumor has it an update to the lobby is next.
The Center of Spirituality began the New Year with a Men’s Retreat led by Michael Petro. It’s snowed a bit that day but we plowed on. January also included the popular Winter Film Series. February’s programs: The Sayings of the Gospel of Q, Women through the Centuries and Giving up Chocolate for Lent were all well received. Sr. Mary Hugh, RSM facelifted a Scripture Study day on the Letters of St. Paul. Please refer to the calendar for future programs.
The parishes we staff continue to prepare for Easter. Please check the schedule for the Holy Week and Easter schedule for the parishes. Unfortunately, there will be no services here at The Oratory.
The priests and brothers wish you all the blessings of the Lent and Easter Season.
