Oratory News For May 2016

It seems as if May was a flash in the pan. We concluded the Easter Season on Pentecost. The Year of Mercy continues and The Oratory Church continues to host a Holy Door of Mercy. The Congregation completed the new assignments for the next three years. Besides the “house” jobs the following appointments were presented and approved by the Bishop of Charleston: Fr. John remains at St. Philip Neri assisted by Fr. Ed McDevitt; Fr. Adilso remains at Divine Saviour ; Fr. Fabio remains at St. Anne; Fr. Agustin moves to All Saints assisted by Bro. John Kummer and Fr. Joe Pearce was appointed to St. Mary. Please remember these Oratorians in your prayers.

On May 26 the Congregation celebrated the Feast of St. Philip Neri. We began the celebration the evening before with dinner and after dinner discussion on community life. On the Feast we dedicated our renovated house chapel. We thank Fr. Adilso for the planning and directing all he did to make the renovation possible. If our very patient webguy can retrieve the pictures from somewhere in cyberspace, you’ll see the almost completed work. After the dedication, we kept the morning quiet for personal reflection followed by Liturgy and a wonderful Portuguese dinner prepared by Andrew DeSilva and his family Hopefully, more pictures. .Memorial Day we remember those who died defending our freedom. June 12-15, Visions in Faith led by Fr. Jeff Kirby.

St. Philip Neri, pray for us.
