The 35th Summer Bible Institute took place at the Oratory from July 17th through July 22nd. Close to 50 people attended the sessions. The morning track was entitled “Eat This Book”: A Catholic Approach to the Bible as God’s Word. The presenter was Ron Witherup, P.S.S., Superior General of the Society of St. Sulpice, who guided us through the history of and a greater appreciation for the Church’s use and understanding of the Word of God. In the evenings Dr. Lawrence DiPaolo, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Neumann University, led us on “A Walk through Genesis with the Church Fathers”. He provided us with a new way of looking at some familiar stories through the lens of the early church. This annual event draws people from the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia – and as far away as New Jersey and Canada. A great community has developed over the years, with new people joining each year – all drawn together to study the Word.
